Accommodation
Share your home
– with a partner or roomie
Have you found love and are thinking about moving in together? Or maybe you and a friend have decided to share a larger home? Whatever the reason, you’re very welcome to share your accommodation at SGS.

How it works
We always sign the tenancy agreement with one person who meets the study requirement. However, the person you live with does not need to be a student.
To ensure our student corridors work well for everyone and that safety regulations are met, only one person is allowed to live in a single room with a shared kitchen. This means that sharing accommodation is only permitted in apartments.
You do not need to notify SGS if you move in with someone, but there are a few things worth arranging to make everyday life run more smoothly.
Mail and registered address
When you move in together, you can submit a maintenance request in the Resident App and let us know which name should be added to the mailbox.
Remember that both of you should be registered at the address with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). If you both have BankID, this can easily be done online.
Being registered at the same address is not only important to make sure your mail is delivered correctly. It can also be crucial if you wish to apply for a tenancy transfer in the future.

Share the Housing app
You do not have to share everything in life – but you are welcome to share the Housing App. By inviting the person you live with as a guest user, they can access useful features such as maintenance requests and laundry room bookings.
You can find this setting under More → My Profile in the app.
Transfer of tenancy
One of you may complete your studies before the other. If you have lived together and been registered at the same address for at least two years, it may be possible to transfer the tenancy agreement to the person who is still studying.
To be eligible for a tenancy transfer, the following conditions must be met:
- Both people must have been registered at the address for at least two years.
- The person taking over the tenancy must be studying at least 15 credits per semester at the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, or Linnaeus University. For all institutions, the studies must be conducted on-site in Gothenburg.
- The person taking over the tenancy must be registered in the SGS housing queue.
