Distribution network

The distribution network connect the access network to the core network.

The distribution network consists of a number of GNU/Linux routers. These act as the gateway for the access network. These routers are located in the housing areas.

Uplink

Every area is connected to the core network using a 10 Gbps fiber connection.

Statistics collection and virus detection

The gateway measures the traffic volume used by connections. It also analyzes traffic patterns using Snort and a set of rules to identify known viruses.

Registration

When you move in it is possible to register your Internet connection from your apartment. When the connection is registered the connection is enabled on the gateway. When you move out the connection is terminated.
