SGS Studentbostäder is a non-profit foundation that has offered safe and affordable housing for university students in Gothenburg for over 70 years. Through close collaboration with the city’s universities and with a focus on safety, innovation and commitment, we create living environments that support both studies and personal development.
What are SGS Studentbostäder?
SGS Studentbostäder is a non-profit foundation that offers accommodation for university students in Gothenburg. With a wide range of apartments and rooms in different locations in the city, SGS strives to create safe, affordable and functional living environments that facilitate student life.
SGS Studentbostäder was founded by the City of Gothenburg and the Federation of Student Unions in Gothenburg with the goal of offering affordable housing with quality and variety. The board includes representatives from the City of Gothenburg, the Federation of Student Unions in Gothenburg, the University of Gothenburg, and Chalmers University of Technology.

SGS Studentbostäder aims to make everyday life easier for students by offering suitable and attractive housing to active university students in the Gothenburg region. We know that safe and well-functioning housing is an important part of a successful study period – therefore we strive to create environments that support both studies and personal development.
Our vision – home for better study time – reflects our belief that good accommodation is not just about a roof over your head, but about creating the conditions for a meaningful and memorable study time. By offering homes that make life easier as a student, we want to help ensure that every tenant has the best possible conditions to succeed in their studies.
Since 1951, we have helped students find safe and affordable accommodation in Gothenburg. The foundation’s operations are run on commercial terms in competition with other housing companies, with the difference that the foundation is not primarily profit-making.

The Foundation’s purpose
The purpose of the foundation is to acquire properties or leasehold rights to plots of land in Gothenburg, directly or indirectly through the acquisition of all shares or all participations in companies, with the aim of constructing residential buildings, housing student housing, with associated communal facilities and commercial apartments. The foundation is a public non-profit housing company. Our values consist of:
